Yorktown Child Care Center is an unusually small program with just three classes for a total of 30 children. As one parent commented, “It’s small enough to know if someone has a birthday and to know all the siblings and parents of all the classrooms but big enough to create a sense of diversity and offer the opportunity for growth, individualism and social learning.”
With such small group sizes, and children-to-teacher ratios that meet or exceed the New York State requirements, your child truly receives the individual attention he or she deserves.
Infants (for 6 weeks to 18 months old)
Your baby is unique which is why their routine becomes our routine. We follow an individualized schedule for each infant based on his or her distinctive personality, habits and needs. This approach is a flexible one, adapting as your child grows and changes. With the exception of formula, we supply all foods at your direction and adjust their diet as you indicate.
Toddlers (for 18 months to 3 years old)
Moving to greater independence, toddlers explore the world through their five senses. We facilitate this by small activity centers like a sensory table, blocks and dress-up area. We also promote growing self-help skills and advance your child’s developing language skills in activities throughout the day. Self-expression is encouraged as well as social development where we encourage your child to respect and get along with others.

Pre-School (for 3 to 5 years old)
As kindergarten approaches, pre-schoolers become part of a more academic environment. Numbers and letters are incorporated into activities such as stories, art, science and conversation. Learning experiences stem from a broad theme each month, promoting readiness, language and creative expression skills.
